On January 3rd, 2022, our precious family friend, 8-year old, Tess Dains, was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and is now currently undergoing her first round of chemo at Texas Children’s Hospital here in Houston. The need for prayer is great. The shock of the diagnosis, overwhelming. The weight of it all, heavy. But God….

I stood so deeply moved as I heard Elizabeth (Tess’ mom and my sweet friend) utter these words in the face of the unimaginable and the unknown:

“God has provided…God has provided…God has provided…”

“God is good. ALL the time. And that has become more and more apparent right in the middle of the Pediatric ICU. God is still in control of this perfect plan He has for Tess' life and that if He is going to allow her to go through this, then He is sustaining and providing each and every step of the way for her. Oh how He has sustained and provided for us.”

Their anthem verse is 2 Timothy 1:7 —

“For He did NOT give us a spirit of fear, but one of power, of love and of sound mind!”

Thank you, Elizabeth, for your super-natural encouragement even in the midst of the most challenging of days.

As we corporately rally around our girl, I felt called to create these bracelets for TEAM TESS — for women, men, girls and boys of all ages — to wear as a reminder to pray for Tess each time you look at it! 100% of proceeds from this piece will go directly to aiding Tess in her fight against cancer and to the needs of their family.

I wept as I heard Elizabeth giving God the glory and the Lord reminded me of these irrevocable Promises He has for Tess and for each of us at any time:

-“The LORD Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will NEVER leave you nor forsake you. DO NOT be afraid; DO NOT be discouraged!” (Deuteronomy 31:8)

-“You will mount up on wings like eagles — you will run and not grow weary — you will walk and not grow faint! Just wait on the Lord!”( Isaiah 40:31)

-“When we are weak, then He is STRONG!” (2 Corinthians 12:10)

-“The Lord will fight for you — you need only be still!” (Exodus 14:14)

-“Praise be to the Father of mercies and the God of ALL comfort, who comforts us in our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

-“He is near to the brokenhearted.” (Psalm 34:18)

-“He binds up the brokenhearted.” (Psalm 147:3)

-“I told you these things so that you have peace. In this world you will have trouble, but FEAR NOT, I have overcome the world!” (John 16:33)

-“He provides for those who grieve.” (Isaiah 61:3)

-“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will NOT fear — though the earth give way, though the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.” (Psalm 46:1-2)

-“The Lord encamps around those who fear Him and He delivers them!” (Psalm 34:7)

-“The Lord is greater than the giants you face!” (1 John 4:4)

-“You keep in perfect peace those whose mind is fixed on you!” (Isaiah 26:3)

-God feels with us — “His heart was filled with pain” (Genesis 6:6)

Pain and hardship is never for nothing. Pain is an invitation. Pain isn’t the end of the story. Our sorrows can become our testimonies — as the hurt turns into radical healing, it begins to spill out of us and many times becomes our very purpose and passion in life! Our pain is NEVER wasted. Our grief, disappointments, and struggles are a microphone to bring glory to His Name.

Thank you, Dains Family, for being a living example of offering endless praise to the One who is more than worthy of our gratitude in every season!

He is our Sustainer, Way-Maker, Mountain-Mover, Rock, Healer and the Lifter of our heads! What a testimony He has prepared for Tess with a watching world onlooking.

While we wait on the Lord for complete and total healing of Tess’ body— we cry out to Jehovah Rapha — and we sing of His goodness even in these deep deep waters. Above all else, join us in prayer for Tess and for her family. We covet your prayers.

We “BODLY approach the Throne of Grace with CONFIDENCE, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)

Draw near Lord — we need you.
